(Limassol, Cyprus)

Promenade viewThe shopping scene in Limassol (Lemesos) has never been better, and holiday makers will be treated to a choice of souvenirs and Cyprus goodies. Shopping highlights in Limassol range from clothing and shoes, to electrical appliance stores and jewellers, with most tending to price their goods sensibly.

Being on the more touristy southern side of Cyprus, the shopping opportunities in Limassol are greater and more impressive, suiting those wishing to spend some of their hard-earned holiday money. In particular, look out for department stores and supermarkets, such as Carrefour, Ermes Olympia and Debenhams, the latter two of which are conveniently close to the Holiday Inn hotel.

Where to Shop

If you are planning to do a spot of food shopping in Limassol, then rest assured that there are plenty of convenience stores and supermarkets to choose from. Those prepared to walk a little further will find that kiosks in the less touristy areas of Limassol are noticeably cheaper than their counterparts in busier situations. Most of these convenience stores choose to stay open until very late, or in some cases, all through the night (24 hours).

The main shopping districts on Limassol are around the streets of Agiou Andreou and Anexartiatis, and along Makarios III Avenue.

Alternatively, the Tiffany Mall has recently opened (May 2009) and stands within the Zakaki area of the resort, close to the new port. The Tiffany Shopping Mall in Limassol is actually now the biggest retail centre in the whole of Cyprus and is home to no less than 150 stores and eateries, with familiar brand names and chain stores including Adidas, Marks & Spencer, Monsoon, Swarovski and Tommy Hillfiger. There is even an indoor ice-skating rink, should you wish to cool down.
